At the age of 7, when her family relocated to Downingtown, Ms. Sanders began at Harrison's School of Dance in Downingtown PA. She recalls, “Scared, and so excited I remember begging Mrs. Harrison to not make me tap. I grew quickly with the studio, and was so eager. Ms Colleen, Ms Shari, Ms Renee, Mr. Jody, Ms Diane, Ms. Heather, Mr. Tom, Ms Christine, and Ms Debbie all taught me at Harrison's; I have to add Mr. Harrison in there too, he was a wonderful man, and he helped me sweep up the boa at night!”
A gifted dancer, she started teaching at the Downingtown studio at age 10 as well as a few classes in Parkesburg and in her early teens she took on her own classes. Advancing quickly, she was invited to dance at the West Chester studio. With this invitation she was dancing 6 days a week at two studios. “It was a challenge sometimes and I wouldn't change it for the world. I am still just as passionate about dance.”
As a senior, Ms. Sanders auditioned for Radio City Rockettes and made it to the final round at age 17, a true accomplishment. When she turned 18 she got her first job with Greg Thompson Productions and has continued to work as a professional dancer with Greg Thompson Productions, Jerry Jackson Productions, and for Carnival Cruise Lines. She was also offered important roles in Las Vegas and Reno, but decided to chose different paths. “I have had the opportunity to travel and enjoy my passion for dance and share my love for the art of dance with my family and friends.”
In 2007 Tina married Josh Sanders, a sound technician, and then moved to Mississippi later that year. Tina currently teachers at Beverly's School of Dance, a wonderful studio with two locations, one in Brandon, and one in Pearl, where she teaches alone.
“Harrison's helped me how.....grow as a woman, and discover myself, and be a hard worker! I walk with my head higher than some, "feeling the floor" to guide myself. There is a confidence and glow about me and I am so proud to say, I was Harrison Dancer, and I went professional because of their teaching and support and encouragement! I missed school games, dances, and parties, and would never change it! Thank you to everyone at Harrison's. Throughout all my traveling I have always said "I went to Harrison's School Of Dance!"”
